The best of course was Westhampton Beach, which today is fashionable for the very wealthy, then Lower Manhattan, which today is totally unaffordable. But all were enjoyable at the time and Manhattan was a cultural Nirvana. Theater and concert halls were enjoyed often as we had friends in the entertainment business due to my wife, Alice's involvement as a dancer in the Martha Graham Dance Group. Living in Manhattan had its odd approaches to large cosmopolitan city living. like paying 4 times my apartment rent to garage my car. I loved it at the time but did not want to raise a family in such a crowded though though culturally exciting place. Wife Alice had her shot at fame in the movie "King and I" and a few stage plays and I finished my education. <br /> I longed for the open and natural beaches of outer Long Island, but could not find employment and therefore not afford nor the outer regions of the island, so when an opportunity arose, I took a job with GM that involved much travel, overseas and in the US. So, like you Rio, I got to see the country and the world, and got paid for it. That is where the real adventure started.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02670759129400189645noreply@blogger.com
